About Me:
I'm a native of Fort Dodge and have been running my own business since the summer of 2002. I'm very active and enjoy bicycling, motorcycling, and just about anything else outdoors that I can do while listening to my iPod.

My Professional Life (The Short Story): I started as a radio announcer in 1979 at age 18, but later decided to drop my on-air aspirations and join a radio station's advertising sales staff in 1982. From that point on my radio career was spent behind the scenes; first as a manager of a 100,000 watt FM station at the age of 23, and later as a regional manager for a broadcasting group. I have over 25 years of broadcasting, marketing and advertising creation, sales, and management experience, and my articles on sales and advertising have been published internationally. I'm also a Past President of the Iowa Broadcasters Association. My Fort Dodge business helps other local businesses with their Internet marketing which includes website building, Internet and Cable TV ad production, video recording/production services, and website administration services such as maintenance and updates.

Professional Bio: Bill Grady was born and educated in Fort Dodge, Iowa, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1979. In 1981, Bill graduated from the broadcasting program at Iowa Central Community College. During his broadcasting career he has worked as an announcer, chief engineer, news director, sports announcer, and sales representative. Bill has also served on several statewide and national organizations and committees such as the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation, NAB State Leadership Conference, and served as President of the Iowa Broadcasters Association and President of the Greater Cedar Rapids Foundation. While under his leadership, the staff of KVFD-AM and KUEL-FM received many local and national recognition’s including 3 consecutive Crystal Radio Awards for excellence in community service in 1998, 1999 and 2000, 5 consecutive Crystal Radio Award finalist nominations, 3 consecutive Marconi Radio Awards for overall excellence in broadcasting in 1998, 1999 and 2000, 4 consecutive Marconi Radio Award nominations, recognized during the Service To America Awards in Washington, D.C. in 1999 and 2000 for excellence in community service, 2 Governor Media Awards for excellence in community development in 1997 and 1999, Sorenson Broadcasting Corporation Sales Department of the Year Award in 1996 and 1998, and the United Way of Greater Fort Dodge Corporate Leadership Award in 1997. Up on No. 2nd Street, where 9th Ave. North would run into the house is the former home of the Trainor or Trainer family in the '40's. I lived in the Lutheran Home at 234 9th Ave. No., at that time. As children, we were not allowed to leave the grounds at the west end of the block. One summer afternoon there was a commotion at the Trainor house. There were no adults present, only an Evelyn Halligan who was babysitting the Trainor children. She claimed there was a ghost in the house and fearful of danger to any of the small children entrusted to her care. At one point there was, what appeared to be, a spectral figure at an upstairs window. Was it a ghost, a spirit, or some other para-normal figure? I have no idea. I emailed Evelyn Halligan a number of years ago and reminded her of the event. She remembered the event and stated that she believed it to be real. I often wondered whether it was older neighborhood kids trying to spook us.

Thanks Bill.  I try to get back to FD quite often to see my parents.  I feel like I'm one of the oldsters when you mention KVFD, KUEL, KWMT, and others that have come and gone like the rest of us.  I graduated in 1964 from FDHS.  What memories I have of FDHS.  I won't bore anyone with the days way back when.  Good Luck on the page.
