A boyfriend of mine and I went and saw Mr Steelman at his house one day, he was outside washing the car. I remember even on the coldest nights with the snow on the ground, he'd be in the back room there to the left of the counter with the door open and talking to high school guys. He always seemed to like us kids. I went skating there from 1971 to 1976, if you were there on a Friday or Saturday night, good chance I was too. We were camped out on the left side /coming in the door(bathroom side) of the room under the windows. The other side had the shelves for skate cases if I remember right. Kids tried to climb in the windows, some successfully, some not because they were those heavy glass ones with the latch in the center rail so the top half pushed out. The corners under the big air units that roared were a convenient dark place when they dimmed the lights for couples skate. Spent a lot of time there ...
Hello Russell. I will put a post up over on the Calling All Cameras board and see if we can get someone to take a picture of the Clark building at Walts while its still there. I use to live in FD years ago. Only lived there until I turned 8/9 but still have a lot of good memories. Greg
