I am the news director for KQWC Radio in Webster City. I have been there since August,1978 so this summer will mark 30 years with the radio station. I have worked with a lot of wonderful people at the radio station in the past and at the present time. My home is Duncombe just east of Fort Dodge. You can find me Sunday nights at the Bohemian Hall south of Fort Dodge as the emcee of the weekly dance events. You might even see me dancing out there from time to time! It's a great place to be on a Sunday night in good ole' F.D.! Hope to hear from you soon!!

Pat! We never met, but I remember you being at KQWC during the time I was in Fort Dodge. (I was and still am a radio geek who listens to everyone in the market!) I did nights at KKEZ and then at KRIT after it was moved from Clarion into Fort Dodge and became "Super 97." 1986-87.
Hello Pat. New member here. I saw your post about the Dodger, Astro and Rialto. My Great Grandparents use to clean all three theaters early mornings. On weekends I would go and help. I remember the Astro the best. The Dodger was the smallest and the Rialto was the largest with a balcony. The Astro. I can still see the red carpet and curtains. My Grandfather would go downstairs to clean the restrooms while my Grandmother would clean the counter area and start in the main theater. All three had a covered orchestra pit right in front of the stage. I can remember that behind the screen and curtain was dark and creepy. I was only 8/9 at the time. I do remember there being old self serve soda machines behind the screen. Down in the basement there was a storage area where the was a workshop area. In there was shelves of old posters and lobby standies. There was also a trap door that you could open and look at the underside of the sloping theater floor. We would open and close the main curtain. My grandfather would even start up the projectors. Lots of great memories. Do you know if there is anything thing at all left of those old theaters? I still have family in Fort Dodge and they ahve told me they are long gone. I bet if the buildings are still there someone could find some clues to its past use. Greg
I have been reading some of the exchanges between you and others and find them interesting. Doug Trusty, one of the "Remember When" group worked at KQTV. He is the one who came up with the picture of the hop at the TV station.
Our class is planning our reunion and one of guys gave me this website. I'm sure enjoying it. I've lived away since 1960, but still have family and friends in FD. So many good memories. You live in Duncombe. I lived in Highview back in about 1947. Talk about a small town, LOL. My dad had the Texaco gas station there. We weren't there very long & it's a good thing my dad kept his other job. The Fort Dodge Laboratories are still going strong. He retired from there in about '76. Will tune in to your station when I'm in the area. Jaci
Well I was too young to remember KQTV but I do remember KVFD-TV and I remember the tornado in 77 that brought it down. Too bad really it would be nice to have your own local station again wouldn't it?
Thank you for your condolances Pat. We as a family are finding joy in knowing how many peoples lives were touched by Jay. What a wonderful man. Again, thank you. Enjoy this cool down!
