About Me:
I know Bill... that says it all (he he) But seriously, a bit about me. To start, I'm the mother of two beautiful children, a graphic artist/art director for a healthcare consulting firm, and semi-pro singer. From my photos, you can also tell I'm also an avid runner/cyclist and self-proclaimed work-out-aholic! Right now (well, not RIGHT now) I'm training for the 2007 Chicago Marathon. When not in artist/singer/training mode, I enjoy spending time with my childen and friends, cooking, listening to music, going to art fairs, putzing around in my yard and garden (I make a damned good zuchhini bread!!) and just being "me". One of these days I'll slow down... but that's a lonnnnggg way off.
Favorite Music:
Pretty much a classical gal, but I LOVE the Corrs, Josh Groban, been really getting into Fall Out Boy (good for running to), and good ole' rock and roll. Just no heavy metal - please!
Favorite TV Shows:
Uh... what's that? Besides about 10 minutes of the Today show in the morning and some HGTV on the weekends, I don't watch much tv. But, if I did, Medium and Smallville would be two shows I would watch. Come one people - those superheroes do it for me every time.

The Hottest Marathon in Chicago History.... and I FINISHED

First, I am safe, sound, and still upright. All I can say is that it was brutally hot out there yesterday, but with my coach's advice and the support of my friends, I finished - albeit walking the last 4 miles due to the cancellation of the race. Despite my efforts to start running again, the police kept us at a walk. The temp was 88 with a heat index of 90, and just before noon they cancelled the race due to unsafe conditions and the lack of paramedic support. Yes, they pulled the paramedics

Marathon Countdown - Volume 2

Training continues as I push the limits on what this old body can do in preparation for the big day. Although - I have to admit - the longest run I've had this season has been 13 miles, but then I didn't expect to lose 6 weeks with a gallbladder/hernia snafu. I amazed myself last week with almost 30 total miles! As a reward for a job well done, I transferred to the bike today for an amazing 40 minute spin. Have to admit - nothing like Fall Out Boy and Madonna to get the heart a pumping.. and

Chicago Marathon Countdown!

Well folks, October 7th is about a month away.. and I'm back putting myself through the paces for the big event. Lots and lots of running, biking, weights - trying to build up my endurance and get my body used to the pounding it will be taking. It's not just the cardio.. but the stamina that takes time to build. My little gallbladder and hernis incident didn't help matters, and neither has the hot humid weather here in the Chicagoland area. It's tough to run when it's 95 degrees outside! Plai

A Tale of a Gallbladder

The scene opens up with some ominous music.. slightly spooky, yet not to scare the children. Enters one tired female. She shuffles to the kitchen table only to find a jar, placed in the center. She carefully examines it.. and discovers it's haunting contents.... her gallbladder!

Ok, so it's not that melodramatic folks! It's just a stinking gallbladder.. and yesterday, mine decided to vacate the buiding thanks to the talents of Dr. Arain and his team :) Yes, the woes of being 40, fe

A Blogging we will go....

I sit here - in a quiet house (yes, the kids are out at the moment) - listening to the remnants of a summer storm echoing in the distance. The precautionary candle has been lit.. and fortunately the kittens have yet to discover it! Right now, putting out a flaming kitten is way down low on my 'to do' list.

So, for the time being.. I will enjoy the quiet. And.. I may eat the last remaining cookies. The last TWO cookies from about 2 1/2 dozen I baked. Note to self - hide a few cookies af

Yep, they took the trail south this year, so maybe in 2010 they'll be doing the north side since they did central the year before. Think of you often, and hope you're doing well. Hope you don't have bears in your backyard, as that would be a terrifying experience. I was mauled by a bear once....it was in a bar, it was dark, wait...that's a completely different story. Anyway, I'd enjoy seeing new pics...take care and talk soon!

Sounds great.

Probably the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are on me....let's see, where did I put my wallet? Oops....I seem to have left it in Fort Dodge. Tell you what, you pay for them and I'll mail you the cash. OK?

Very funny Bill! I've been trying to get some bike time 1-2 times per week, but only indoors so far. Remember - it's Spring here, so that means snow and ice and freezing rain. LOL! Got to love Chicago weather! But, we bought our biking sandals the other day.. ooooo. Don't drool too much ;)

So have you been training for RAGBRAI.....or have you been inside grabbing a bunch of couch time.

It's been nice and toasty here in Iowa!

Well, I'll have to hug the first person to card me! LOL! Yes, I've been warned about the beer. Honestly - I had 2 after the marathon. They go down easy after an intense workout!
