I knew Dave Sinclair, Eve Rubenstein, Buckskin Bill, and Bob Tarbox. Bob and I drove to Clarion to cover the fire that destroyed a golf ball factory. It was cold, Bob had the radio on the Iowa Legislature in session, and smoked a cigar. When we got to the site Bob got into a laughing fit and we about froze to death getting the report recorded. The fire was long over and there was nothing but scorched earth as a backdrop.

How about Karen Vosberg and Ray Gales at the TV station. Still keep in touch with Ray. I remember Ed Breen in a suit and tennis shoes.

Being around Halloween I remember going to Professor Put-on and all the masks they had.

I'm still here. Reading these makes me wish I had a time machine. I would love to be able to go back see some of these old places again.

This is me on the set they use for the barn dance. I work at KQTV when they first went on the air. I ran the project all and sound, some times the camera. The pay wasn't very good but had alot of fun. Some of the people that I remember are Bob Brown Earl Kopp Dave Sinclair Eve Rubenstein and Buckskin Bill to mention a few.

Wow Dave,

Thanks for posting the photo of the coffee pot! I don't think it was ever open when I was a kid. Or if it was I was too young to remember it.
I do remember messing around the building and it just sat empty for a long time.

Hi Pat,

I remember KVFD but I don't remember KQTV.
Wasn't Mr. Tarbox the weather man at KVFD? I remember that we used to deliver his newpaper and I would talk to him about the weather. Poor guy if he got the weather wrong he never heard the end of it.

Hi Tammy,

Yes I remember the outdoors mall. I think Bob mentioned something about it too. Sure was cold in the Winter wasn't it?
I remember the Easter Bunny there too. I bet the bunny must have been 9 feet tall! :)
I forgot about Fanny Farmer too. Sure was good candy

Another fond memory are the movie theatres of Fort Dodge. The Astro,Dodger and a few others. By golly they even had matinees every day while the kids were in school!

KQTV later KVFD-TV had its own version of Saturday Night Live before it went dark. Do you remember the Schultz Brothers BARN DANCE???? Great local entertainment from years gone by! I went to a taping one Saturday night in November,1971 at Television Square on the west end of Fort Dodge. Oh I wish those days were back!!
